چکیده

conclusions several adverse effects are associated to anti-hcv drugs, hence appropriate skin care management and follow-up are very important. a careful anamnesis before the initiation of triple therapy is necessary to identify previous dermatological diseases that could increase skin adverse effects incidence. case presentation we report a case of a patient who discontinued telaprevir because of severe skin eruptions and who, during ribavirin and interferon treatment, after a period free of skin lesions, developed new dermatological lesions different than those experienced during telaprevir treatment. introduction dermatological adverse events are an existing concern during treatment of hepatitis c virus infection. peginterferon/ribavirin treatment is associated with well-characterized dermatological lesions tending towards a uniform entity of dermatitis. new telaprevir- or boceprevir-based triple-therapy has led to significant improvements in sustained virological response rates, although associated with an increase in cutaneous adverse events compared peginterferon/ribavirin alone.

Adverse Skin Reactions during Triple Therapy with Boceprevir in Chronic Hepatitis C Genotype 1

Boceprevir is a first generation serin protease NS3/4A inhibitor, formally available in Italy from 2013 and often used for the treatment of CHC genotype 1, always in combination with pegylated interferon and ribavirin; known as the triple therapy. The main advantages of using boceprevir are the higher SVR percentage and shorter treatment time; 28 weeks if eRVR-extended rapid virological respons...

Performance of Two HCV RNA Assays during Protease Inhibitor-Based Triple Therapy in Patients with Advanced Liver Fibrosis and Cirrhosis

INTRODUCTION On-treatment HCV RNA measurements are crucial for the prediction of a sustained virological response (SVR) and to determine treatment futility during protease inhibitor-based triple therapies. In patients with advanced liver disease an accurate risk/benefit calculation based on reliable HCV RNA results can reduce the number of adverse events. However, the different available HCV RN...

Immune-related adverse events during anticancer immunotherapy: Pathogenesis and management

Immunotherapy is one of the most recent systemic treatments to emerge for use in oncology, and is based on the blocking of inhibitory immune checkpoints to potentiate the immune response to cancer. The anti-cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen-4 antibody ipilimumab and anti-programmed cell death protein 1 antibodies, including nivolumab and pembrolizumab, are currently available and widely...

Gastroscopy-related adverse cardiac events and bleeding complications among patients treated with coronary stents and dual antiplatelet therapy.

BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is recommended following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stent (DES). DAPT is a risk factor for gastrointestinal bleeding. We aimed to quantify (1) the rate of gastroscopy within 12 months after PCI, (2) the rate of adverse cardiac events and gastroscopy-related bleeding complications within 30 days of gastros...
